What is the service fee?

Cocatalyst is free for donors to use. We charge a service fee on the transaction before we forward the funds to the charity.

As explained by Charity Navigator's research, non-profits are typically charged 2.2% to 10% for donations received online using a credit card or online payment. 

We value efficiency too and charge a 4.95% transaction fee for our service to the non-profit, which includes costs incurred for the request (transfer fees, ACH or check fees, account payable processing, anti-fraud verifications, etc). We are disciplined about negotiating discounts, and we will always charge 4.95% in fees from each donation. If the expenses for a donation are greater than that, such as for small donations, we will cover the cost. This service goes to our legal expenses (501(c)3 certifications, audits, etc), and any excess will be invested to ensure Cocatalyst is the simplest and most robust service for donors.

Fees are automatically deducted from transactions.
